The book i have read was Cookie by Jacqueline wilson. The main character in cookie is Beauty Cookson, she goes to a posh girls school and hates it.The girls are spoilt and selfish who tease beauty (as she is rather plain, and very timid) and her name, they call her hurtful words which Beauty thinks is true. Her Mum, Dilly is her Dad’s third wife and very young. Beauty's Dad's a bully which probably why he has been married three times. He terrifies his wife Dilly and little Beauty and has several moodswings each day depending on how well his work went and how much he managed to sell at happy homes. He has very strict house rules for examole 'no pets what so ever !' and is constantly criticising Beauty for her lack of looks. Mum and daughter live in fear of him and his temper. Beauty sees an oppertunity when a sweet girl invites her to her party and they become good friends but the girl is best friends with her main bully. For her birthday her Dad arranges a 'fabulous' birthday party and so Beauty invites her whole class to her party to make her look popular which unfortunatly she is really not. After an awful birthday party with the girls in her class that have bullied her all year Dad does something unforgivable which persuades Dilly (Mum) and Beauty to run away.I would give this book a **** 4 stars out of ***** 5 stars because of its happy ending where her and her mum live in peace without having to be worried of doing anything but because of all the bullying from Dad and bullies at school i felt i could not give it a five star.

Beauty Cookson is plain and timid, and all the super-confident and snooty girls at school think her name is ridiculous and tease her horribly.
Worse than the taunting in the playground, though, in her father's constant, hurtful criticism. Beauty and her Mum live in fear of Dad's fierce rages - sparked off when they break one of his fussy house rules or suggest something 'silly' like getting a pet. But Beauty's Mum adores her, and does her best to keep Beauty happy despite all the tension and shouting.
After Beauty's disastrous birthday party, Dad's temper seems to be out od control. Are Mum and Beauty brave enough to leave and start a sweeter new life?
